The Northern Consilium
The Councilors of the Northern Consilium
- Solomon (Obrimos, Silver Ladder) - Hierarch
- Idrisia (Mastigos, Guardians of the Veil)
- Bishop (Moros, Mysterium)
- Winter (Acanthus, Adamantine Arrow)
- Rowan (Thyrsus, Silver Ladder)
The Northern Consilium is known not to be the most secure political structure designed, and those magi who have been around since before the Cataclysm are also well aware that this has long been the case. While Solomon watched on, there were three Cabals fighting for dominance -
- Electus Vigilo
- A cabal of Guardians, rumored to be all female, led by the mysterious Prophet Cassandra. The Acanthus Councilor disappeared during the aftermath of the Cataclysm, although there has never been any mention of her death. Idrisia was also a member.
- ToTs
- Ask a ToT what the name stands for and you'll get a smile, an answer, or a riddle, but never the same response twice. Still, you can't really expect anything else from Rowan. His former Cabal mate Olwen, then the North's Obrimos Councilor, seemed to find it all hilarious, and the other three weren't complaining either. A group of radical free thinkers.
- Akeru
- Most people didn't want to get close to this somber and eerie group, but the Necromancer Councilor Erebus was nothing if not intimidating. When his giant of a cabal mate, known as Moose, became a Sentinel the result was terrifying. There were few who were not just a little glad when they and the rest of that Cabal did not survive the Millenium.
- but the Cataclysm decimated their numbers, destroying one completely. Perhaps they did put aside their differences, but the truce is shaky at best.
Solomon, Hierarch of the North, has been around as long as anyone can remember. He is known to be a Master of Prime, and he is always courteous and polite, although his courtesy comes has a touch of arrogance to it. In his old age, Solomon seems to be becoming distant from his duties as Hierarch of the North, and from Awakened society in general.
He is known to have originally belonged to a Cabal of Obrimos who sought to modify the ley lines of Manchester to allow them to ascend to heaven upon a wave of magic - a cabal which were all put to death with the exception of the apprentice Solomon who was believed to have been lead astray.
Not much is known about Idrisia - as a Guardian of the Veil, she works under a veil of secrecy. She is Winter's vocal opposition in the Northern Consilium, speaking openly against a great deal of what comes out of Winter's mouth.
The man they call Bishop was not born with that name, nor was he even a man of the cloth. An Army man who has traveled the world, Bishop was one of the elder mages of Britannia at the time of the Cataclysm. His calm words and leadership qualities turned heads, and it wasn't very long before the surviving Councilors of the North asked him to join their ranks. Known for his calm and friendly disposition, Bishop has a habit of being able to defuse tense situation with a few choice words. A natural diplomat and leader, although he is extremely reluctant to take charge any more.
Winter's mentor and teacher, Zone, was a Sentinel for the Consilium of the North at the time of the Cataclysm, and he attended the fateful gathering along with the Councilor he served, Olwen of the Obrimos. Neither returned, and in the ensuing chaos left by the Cataclysm Winter took it upon herself to uphold Zone's beliefs, steadfastly defending Atlantean principles. To her horror that got her pushed into becoming a Councilor herself and with the five-year ruling she's been stuck in that role ever since.
Winter is fiery, passionate and determined. She has respect amongst the other Arrows, and even those who don't like her admire her determination.
Originally a farm boy, these days Rowan doesn't remember much of where he comes from; or at least that's what he tells anyone who dares ask. Not that many do with his dark eyes promising horrors beyond belief despite his boyish good looks. Mages remember him sitting on the Consilium for as long as they've been Awakened yet he looks exactly the same as he always has. He will from time to time offer advice to his younger colleagues but half the trick is working out the meaning of it. Those who do glimpse an ancient wisdom, those who don't just think he's insane. That was the general consensus even before he survived the Cataclysm. These days he keeps himself to himself, most of the time.
The Lex Magicus of Britannia North (c. 2004 AD)
- The Mysteries are not for the Unawakened; do not reveal them to those who Sleep through word, deed, writings or trace of magic.
- There are creatures who walk this land who do not Sleep but are not Awakened. While interaction is not forbidden they must not know our ways or magics.
- All true Heirs of Atlantis will be treated with respect. Do not steal from them, cheat them or break your given word to them.
- The Unawakened are to be treated with care and respect, for each has the potential to Awake.
- Do not fuel the Abyss with foolish magics, or forsake Wisdom for power.
- Honor your vows and duties. Whether they are made to Cabal, Order, Consilium or fellow Willworker.
- Each Cabal has the right to deal Justice to those sworn to it, but they may not condemn a member to death or order their soul imprisoned.
- The Consilium has final say in all matters within their boundaries. Any dispute may be brought forth at Open Council and the resulting decision is final, up to and including the sentence of death.
- Do not cause injury or death to any rightfully invited guest within gatherings called by brother Cabal, Order or Consilii, that right belongs to the Consilium and their chosen representatives.
- When called for, and agreed upon, the traditions of the Dual Arcane must be observed. Duels to the death are forbidden.
- The servants of the Exarchs and the Abyss are granted no protection. Seers of the Throne, the Accursed, Tremere liches and any discovered to be in league with these heretical groups will be put to death by Consilium order.
